The Brick is the canonical LEGO element. Bricks come in many sizes and even shapes (not all are rectangular) but the distinguishing feature of most bricks is that they are at least 24 LDU (3 plates) high.

Most AFOLs also use Brick as a measurement itself. (ie: I built a house 10 bricks tall.)

Brick is also used as a synonym for LEGO products and collections in general (ie: I sort my brick by colour and type).
